Facilitated by Vince Wishart who is of Plains Cree, Scottish, and Polish heritage and has been facilitating Wellbriety Talking Circles and Men's Wellbriety Recovery Step Groups for the past 6 years. Wellbriety means achieving sobriety and abstinence from substance abuse and all forms of addictions. It means going beyond “clean and sober” by entering a journey of holistic healing, balancing the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of our wellness. Wellbriety is a sustainable grassroots movement that provides culturally based healing for the next seven generations of Indigenous people. The 4 colors of the medicine wheel represent all nations and the teachings are available to all people who choose to heal with the guidance of Ancient Indigenous wisdom. All humans have Indigenous roots. We are all connected and the healing of each of us helps heal all of us. We start the Talking Circle with an Elders Meditation. We pass an eagle feather around the circle. Whoever holds the eagle feather is the focus person. We hold space for them to share and respect them by not interrupting. All microphones are kept off until the focus person is asked to speak. We close the circle with a round of appreciations and a gratitude song. After the closing of the Talking Circle, everyone who has not joined the Step Group will sign off and those men who have committed to be a part of the Wellbriety Step Group will stay online for their meeting. Vince is a Psychotherapist, Group Facilitator, & Pipe Carrier who walks the Red Road in a ceremonial way of life. Vince has personally done 13 sets of steps and is overjoyed with the 100% success (recovery) rate of the Wellbriety Step Groups he has facilitated!
